What's on in Bilbao this January 2019

With the New Year lights show carried over into January, there is still time to visit the cascade of lights, watch the video-projections on the City Hall, visit the golden lit Arenal forest and feel the joys of winter holidays. The Great New Year concert: 1st January

Strauss Festival orchestra and the ballet ensemble will put together a show to celebrate the New Year on the well-known music written by the composer Johann Strauss.  Euskalduna is the venue for this event not to be missed.

The Swan Lake ballet: 4th January

Moscow state ballet together and Bolshoi theatre are coming to Bilbao to put on stage the famous Swan Lake. The Gran symphony orchestra will cover the music column for this great show that is scheduled in to happen at the Euskalduna on the 4th of January.

Little White Riding Hood Opera: 2nd – 5th January

The Spanish version of the opera Txanozuritxu will be the first staged show of the year at the Arriaga theatre. 13 musicians and singer will play the story of Little Red Riding Hood - a teenager who, trying to make friends, will approach Lobo, an enigmatic boy of her class.

María Pagés and company- Ode to Time: 18th – 19th January

A flamenco choreography on the ephemeral, the eternal and the immutable staged by Maria, accompanied by eight dancers and seven musicians. Her show will put into light the relentlessness of the passing time and its ruthless effects on our bodies and our desires, on art and life.

Sidecars in concert: 20th January

Promoting their latest album ‘Cuestión de gravedad’ (2017), promising to be the best Spanish rock band, Sidecars will be performing on the 20th January at the Arriaga.

The Mersey Beatles Tribute: 27th January

Beatles fans will be enchanted with the performance of “the best Beatles Tribute around”, as they were called by the Beatles monthly columnist, Donna Jackson. The band from Liverpool will be performing for the Bilbao audience on the 27th January at the Euskalduna Theatre Room.

Dialogue between Arriaga and Mozart, concert: 27th January

A special concert arises at the Arriaga theatre, tribute to Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga, the composer after whom the theatre is named and Mozart whose date of birth was on the same calendar day.

Two different geniuses brought together in a single concert by the Bilbao Sinfonietta ensemble.

BilboStack Conference 2019: 26th January

The 8th edition of the annual cutting-edge technological topics conference in Bilbao will happen on the 26th January. National and international professionals from the technology sector will come to Bilbao to share their knowledge on the most relevant issues.
