The Alhondiga Bilbao is an entertainment centre located at Plaza Arriquibar, 4.
The ground floor has 43 columns that were designed by Phillipe Starck, and each column has a different design. The building has a gym, swimming pool, big library, restaurants and movies and so the place is always bustling with life.
The building itself was built in 1905 by the architect Ricardo Bastida as a corn exchange. He built it in a modernist style with reinforced concrete and brick. In the 1970’s the business moved away and the building remained empty for many years until they redesigned it as an entertainment center. Philippe Starck was the architect who redesigned the building.
